Selecting multiple colour swatches

Hi,
I am wondering if you can tell me how to enable the selection of multiple colour swatches within a single variation? We have around 20 colours to choose for a product, with the buyer able to make upto three colour choices. So we would like to enable that the user can select a maximum of 3 colour swatches when selecting a product.
