Sorting the variation swatches

Hi I have been using swatches quite well for a while I have one thing I’m trying to do I’ve re-ordered the variations so that they sort properly according to logic rather than actual alphabetical sorting, but I have not been able to get it to stay rather reflect on the front screen. Is there a way of doing this
