Sorry I mean, with the colours attribute and it showing swatches, how can I make it that the user is unable to toggle between the colours so all they see if the colours available?

Hi,
I run a fashion website and lots of the clothing has different colour variations. When selected to show on my shop page it takes up to 10 seconds to load the page. When I turn the swatches off from showing on this page it loads within 1 second.
Is there a way to show the colour swatches but not download all the variations on the shop page, I just need the customer to see the colours the product is available in on the shop page and then they can click through to select and see the colours on the product page.
Is this possible?
