Want To Add Extra Images Per Product Variation For Free? Download Now

Default images and variation images

Wolfgang Dick

Hi there,

May I ask two questions about this plugin please?

  1. let’s imagine, for some variable products I have 5 general images but only 1 variation image. Will the customer still see the other 5 pictures (so in total 6 pictures) then in the product (as thumbnails and in the gallery) or only 1 when clicking on this variation?
  2. We already have the plugin “Product Gallery Slider for WooCommerce” by Codeixer installed. Will there be a peaceful coexistence with “Additional Variation Images Gallery for WooCommerce“?

Thanks a lot and have a great day!

Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,

Thanks for getting back to us. I hope you are doing great today.

Question 1:

Initially, it will display the 5 general images on the first load. After clicking on the variation, it will display one image of the variation.

Question 2:

Unfortunately, you can’t use two gallery plugins on the same site.

I hope it will clear up your confusion. Please let me know if you have more queries.

Thank You

Hi Wolfgang,

Sorry for this inconvenience, there is a known issue with the image attachment in our ticket system.

Please upload your screenshot here- https://paste.pics/ and post directly the screenshot link using the reply box.

Thank You

Hi Wolfgang,

For question 1: so if only 1 variation image is available for a product, the general images of the product will disappear then (the red marked pictures in the screenshot)?

Yes, the general images will disappear when you click on a variation swatch on the single product page and you have added a variation image using this button not only this button.

Thank You

Wolfgang Dick

Hi Hakik, thanks for your reply.

But let’s assume a product has 10 general images and 20 variations (where only 2 images are specific for each variation).

The customer must see 12 images in total for each variation, even when clicked on any variation swatch.

Now if I understand you correctly, this would mean that I have to add the same 10 general images for each variation again and again….?

Hakik Zaman

Hi Wolfgang,

Our plugin was intended to add more images for specific variations.

So that, a customer can check only the specific variation images when s/he clicks on a variation.

The customer must see 12 images in total for each variation, even when clicked on any variation swatch.

The customer will see the 12 images when s/he doesn’t click on a variation. Once they click on an individual variation, they can explore all the images for that specific variation.

I hope it will clear up your confusion.

Thank You

Wolfgang Dick

Yes, it clears up my confusion, but the customer will always have one variation selected/active. And he must not see only the 2 individual variation specific images, but also the general images for the product.

So this would mean that for the example below I have to add 240 images for each variation (10 general images + 2 variation images for each of the 20 variations).

This would cause problems in the maintenance whenever a general image must be changed.

That’s why I wonder, is this really by design?

Hi Wolfgang,

Unfortunately, this is how our plugin was designed.

We had your requested feature in our previous release.

We received several tickets and they indicated this feature as an error. They claimed that other images should not be displayed when a customer has already clicked on a single variation.

So we had to stick with this behavior. Yes, sure, your case is different.

Thank You

Wolfgang Dick

That’s so sad to hear.

It would be so easy to satisfy both, people who don’t want to see the general images and those who need both types of images.

Just as a hint: other plugins provide the functionality to turn this off or on, but I would like to get your plugin (because I already use another plugin from you).

Just as an example, please see here:

If you see a chance to provide some PHP in order to enable what you had in your previous release, I still would be happy to go for your plugin.

Hi Wolfgang,

Please send the feature request here: https://storepress.fider.io/ I am also forwarding this to our development team to reconsider this.

If you see a chance to provide some PHP in order to enable what you had in your previous release, I still would be happy to go for your plugin.

Unfortunately, we have rewritten the whole codebase in the 1.3 series. We have changed the whole architecture.

Thank You

Wolfgang Dick

Hi Hakik, unfortunately we need this functionality now, because we have new products that we must include in the shop now 🙁

We were even willing to pay something additionally to bring back the earlier functionality as an option, but we would need it very soon – the products are waiting to be sold 🙂

Wolfgang Dick

Hello Hakik, I just found out – what a coincidence – that our currently used plugin “Product Gallery Slider for WooCommerce” by Codeixer now with the new version also offers the functionality to have additional variation images.

And the best is: it does not hide the main images from the product, so that’s exactly what our discussion was.

Well, now I’ll give the new version of “Product Gallery Slider for WooCommerce” a try.

Many regards and sorry to have you bothered with this!

Hi Wolfgang,

Our development team already implemented this feature. It is now in the testing stage.

Once we finalize all the things we will let you know.

Thank You

Wolfgang Dick

Hello Hakik,

Wow, you guys are real wizards – this option is just awesome!

Unfortunately for me, as I wrote in my last message, I found out that in the new version of our already used plugin “Product Gallery Slider for WooCommerce” additional variation images are now featured too.

So there’s no urge anymore to kick this plugin out now and replace it with yours, because we rely on the engine of the image gallery also on other places of the website. Like this we don’t have to rework many things.

But anyhow, I checked the staging site – thanks! – and tried with the hoodie, before and after activation of the new functionality. It works perfectly as far as I can see.

This will be a very, very helpful function for all your users, because if it is a lifestyle product (and not apparel), there always might be some general “mood” images that you want the customer to see (in case he will not get the idea to press the “clear” button for the variations).

Many thanks again and warm regards from Switzerland

Wolfgang
