After updating color swatches lost all color, they’re now blank

Michael Wang

We’re upgrading from 1.3.10 to the newest version and color swatches lost all color, the box is there, but the colors are blank. In the Admin swatch section of woocommerece the product swatch selection is also blank.

We are a pro user, will try to find the product key soon.

When we update the non pro version first, the sites gets critical error message.

When we update the Pro first it doesnt crash the site.

Should we update maybe an older version?

What do you suggest.

Website is:

www.Scandesigns.com

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Are you talking about Variation Swatches or Additional Variation Images Gallery Plugin?

We have no codebase for swatches inside the Additional Variation Images Gallery.

Thank You

Michael Wang

Sorry Seems like a mixup.

We are currently using : Variation Swatches for WooCommerce – Pro 1.1.18 + Variation Swatches for WooCommerce 1.1.19 (non-pro)

I’m under the understanding both plugins need to be installed to be able to use the pro features.
This version combination works for us currently without issue….we want to update the pro to 2.0.19

If we upgrade Variation Swatches for WooCommerce 1.1.19 (non-pro) “First” to 2.0.19 The website produces a crital error on update.

We then tried to upgrade the Variation Swatches for WooCommerce – Pro 1.1.18 to 2.0.19 “First” and that worked without issue and then updated Variation Swatches for WooCommerce 1.1.19 (non-pro) “Second” to 2.0.19 This order does not produce a crital error.

What “DOES” happen is the variations upon upgrade loose all the variation colour info eg. #123456 or the swatch url is lost. We have hundreds of products that use a variety of variations so putting all the colours back manually is not an ideal solution.

Are you aware if this issue? is it because we are upgrading in such a large chunk? do you think if we upgraded to 2.0.0 or another we can bridge the upgrade to work?

If we need to bridge where can I find the other updates?

Hi Michael,

We are sorry for your inconvenience. Version 2.0 series is a massive change, we have updated the whole codebase. To perform the update process:

=> Temporarily deactivate both Free and Pro versions.

=> Update the free version to 2.0.19 but don’t activate it.

=> Download the latest version of pro 2.0.19 from here: https://getwooplugins.com/my-account/downloads/

=> Update the 2.0.19 pro manually. Note: You can check this tutorial to understand the manual update process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anzv8IsiP2o

=> Activate both free and pro versions.

=> Wait for the migration script to run. You will get a notice at the top of the admin panel.

=> Refresh the page and check whether the notice is disappeared or not. Once disappeared check your site.

Thank You

Hi Hakik

Thank you for the help
In the wp admin is see the notice that migration is working in the background and has a button saying “view progress”

How long does the migration take?  Been waiting for more than an hour. I was thinking the actions are hanging as the actions complete number does not change.  If I manually click run on a pending action the number will change by one on the completed actions.
So I kept clicking the run script button ….the color code swatches were initially blank….now that i pressed the button “run” multiple (40+) times the color swatches are showing …..but it still says the migration is running but I cant see the task count changing on its own without clicking “run”.

I can’t tell how many more times it needs to be clicked but i’m thinking this is a work around and not the intended solution process.

Do you know why the actions and migration seems to be working this way?

Hi Michael,

Please don’t force it to run. Depending on the number of your products it will take time.

If you think it is not running, please check the Pending Schedule Actions. It will run smoothly when the previously scheduled process is done.

Sometimes, some schedules get stuck and block the other schedule. I can see you have 15 pending schedules. Please check them if any schedule is stuck.

Don’t worry you can rerun the migration from here:

WooCommerce > Status > Tool > “Variation Swatches for WooCommerce” Migrator

Thank You
