Hello, I might not have explained properly. I want to have both colour and size attributes showing on the shop page however I want to display no more than 6 of each on the shop page.

I understood your concern.
If you disable catalog mode then all attributes will be visible on the shop page. But For adding attribute limit on the shop page, need to enable catalog mode. By enabling catalog mode, you can show only any one attribute on the shop page.
