Can’t link image to swatch on product page

Hi, I am trying to link my swatch images to the finish options on my products. For some reason, they don’t link. I have tried in every section of the product backend, uploading the swatch image to different sections and on the front end it just shows the name of the finish no matter what I try. I cannot get the image to link to the finish.
