Is there a CSS that can block it? I would really like to have defined preselected products, but I will not do that as long as it’s visible as well on the category sites.

Sorry for the inconvenience. It can’t be blocked using CSS.
It is a feature of WooCommerce itself, we just use its dropdown and convert it to swatches.
So, right now there is no possible fix for it. But it seems like it is a useful feature.

How to avoid “default product value” to be visible on category/archive sites?

I would like to set the “default product value” for the single products. When I do that, I see this preselection as well on the archives/category sites. This avoids the product showing the first product picture and changing to the second picture when hovering over it. I don’t like that.
Is it possible to set the “default product value” and block it to be visible on the archives?
